Columbus Catholic High School defeated Colby High School 84-65 in a Cloverbelt East boys’ basketball game Thursday night, securing a tie for first place in the conference. The Dons now share the top spot with Loyal, each team holding an 11-1 conference record.
The victory marks Columbus Catholic’s eleventh conference win of the season. Their next contest is scheduled for Tuesday against Owen-Withee. Colby, now with a 4-14 record, will face Gilman on Tuesday.
In a separate Cloverbelt East matchup, Owen-Withee registered a 75-53 road win against Spencer. Owen-Withee built a ten-point lead in the first half and extended it throughout the remainder of the game, improving their overall record to 12-7. Spencer’s record fell to 15-6. Owen-Withee will next play Greenwood/Granton on Monday.
On the girls’ side, Mosinee High School achieved a significant non-conference win, defeating Colfax 68-42. The win handed Colfax only their third loss of the season. Mosinee’s record now stands at 16-4, and they are scheduled to play Northland Pines on Friday.
