Colorado Rockies Hire Paul DePodesta as President of Baseball Operations

Rockies ⁤Name Paul DePodesta President of Baseball Operations

DENVER, CO – November⁣ 2, 2023 ⁤- The Colorado Rockies today announced ‌the hiring of paul depodesta ⁣as thier new President ⁣of baseball Operations. The move comes after ​a secretive search to find a⁣ leader to ⁣modernize the franchise following seven consecutive losing seasons, culminating in a franchise-worst 43-119 record in 2023.

Rockies owner and⁣ CEO Dick Monfort stated, ⁢”Today is an exciting day for the ‌Rockies‌ organization as​ we ⁤welcome Paul as our new ​president of baseball operations. ⁢Paul was⁤ the very first person we interviewed,and⁢ throughout our conversations ‍with him Walker and⁤ I were both intrigued by⁤ his understanding of ‌the game,his positive⁤ attitude,his​ process-based ⁢mindset and his influence on the game.⁢ this is a special‌ guy with great vision and ⁤a great plan.He is a winner and he is going ​to win in Colorado.”

DePodesta emerged as ⁣a surprise candidate​ on⁢ thursday afternoon, with his name not previously linked to the search. Other finalists for ⁢the position were reportedly Amiel ‌Sawdaye of the Arizona Diamondbacks and ⁤Matt Forman of the⁢ Cleveland Guardians. ⁤According to reports, one candidate turned ⁢down an offer⁢ while the other withdrew their⁣ candidacy. James Click ‌of the Toronto blue Jays and Scott Sharp of the Kansas City Royals were also⁣ considered during the ‌search process.

Team executive ​vice president ‍Walker Monfort added, “hiring Paul is an essential first step to ​the evolution⁣ of our baseball department and we’re confident that he will not only maximize our current personnel but will ‌also bring in ​additional ‌leaders ​from outside the ⁤organization to help ‍lead ​us forward.”

DePodesta is expected to lead the search⁢ for a⁤ new general manager and additional front office staff,⁢ bringing‍ in personnel ⁢from outside the ⁣current organization. He will attend the ⁢general‍ manager meetings​ in Las Vegas next week‌ and will be‌ formally introduced at Coors Field next Thursday.
