Colón Lifeguard School: 2026 Training – Registration Now Open

March 21, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Registration is now open for the 2026 cycle of the Colón Municipal Lifeguard School, the Municipality of Colón’s Tourism Secretariat announced Saturday. The ten-month training program aims to prepare individuals for positions safeguarding swimmers at beaches, rivers, and pools.

The school’s reopening signifies a renewed focus on training personnel for the critical tasks of aquatic safety – prevention, care, and protection of life in the water. The course, beginning April 8th, will provide applicants with specialized training encompassing preventative measures, rescue techniques, primary care administration, and practical experience in diverse aquatic environments. Emphasis will be placed on both physical and technical conditioning.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must be at least 18 years traditional, demonstrate proficiency in swimming, possess a satisfactory level of physical fitness, and have completed secondary education. These requirements are designed to ensure participants can meet the demands of the profession, which requires preparation, discipline, and a commitment to public service.

Graduates of the Colón Municipal Lifeguard School will receive an official certification upon completion of the course. The program also offers the potential for immediate employment opportunities, training in first aid and CPR, and practical experience in open water environments.

Interested individuals can pre-register through a QR code distributed in official program materials or via this link: https://forms.gle/pqhUFyU9m3jh3xzv9.

The Municipality of Colón has regional offices and information centers throughout the province, including locations in Bocas del Toro (Isla Colón), Coclé (Río Hato), Los Santos (Pedasí), and Chiriquí (Boquete and Paso Canoa). Contact information for these offices is available online. The Colón office, located on Paseo Washington, can be reached at 475-2300 or 475-2301. The municipality’s transparency portal, accessible through its website, provides access to public records including agreements, decrees, and resolutions.
