ardennes Department Invests in student wellbeing with College Visits
Carignan & Douzy, France – Ardennes Department President Noël Bourgeois continued a series of inspections of local middle schools this week, visiting the collèges of Carignan adn Douzy on October 13th. Accompanied by Nathalie Robcis, President of the Education, Sport and Culture Commission, and Departmental Counselor Marc Wathy, Bourgeois focused on assessing student facilities and discussing support for school administrators.
The visits come as the Department Council (CD08) reaffirms it’s commitment to improving conditions for Ardennes students and strengthening collaboration with school leadership. A key topic of discussion centered on the CD08’s desire to enhance support for college secretaries general, not through increased control, but through collaborative resource mobilization. “Our goal isn’t to take over,” Bourgeois emphasized to administrators in both Carignan and douzy. “It’s to support you, to work as a team, leveraging all our resources to move things forward.” He stressed the importance of well-maintained schools, stating, “Our establishments must be well-kept; we must give our middle school students the best possible welcoming conditions.”
Bourgeois’s inspections included thorough walkthroughs of each collège, examining hallways, classrooms, libraries, cafeterias, restrooms, computer labs, playgrounds, and covered walkways. The focus was on evaluating completed improvement projects and identifying remaining needs.
Since 2021, the CD08 has invested 68.6 million euros in Ardennes collèges and their students, demonstrating a importent financial commitment to educational infrastructure. the ongoing visits and discussions are intended to ensure these investments are strategically allocated and effectively improve the learning habitat for all students in the department.
