Colin Kazem-Richards: Ex-Corinthians Becomes Football Manager in England

March 25, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Colin Kazim-Richards, a former Turkey international and veteran of multiple top-flight European leagues, has been appointed as the latest head coach of Crawley Town Football Club. The League Two side confirmed the appointment on Monday, following the recent sacking of Scott Lindsey after a ten-match winless streak.

The 39-year-old Kazim-Richards brings a unique profile to the role, having recently been involved in the youth set-up at Arsenal. His playing career spanned numerous clubs, including Derby County, Sheffield United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Celtic, Fenerbahçe, and Corinthians. He earned 37 caps for the Turkish national team, scoring twice.

Crawley Town owner Raphael Khalili expressed confidence in Kazim-Richards’ ability to turn the club’s fortunes around. “Following a thorough and highly competitive recruitment process, Colin distinguished himself as an outstanding candidate,” Khalili stated on the club website. “He is a natural leader with extensive experience in the dressing room and we firmly believe he is the right person to guide the club forward at this crucial time.”

Lindsey’s departure came after Crawley Town secured only five points from their last ten League Two matches, leaving them just above the relegation zone. Kazim-Richards retired from playing in 2023 after a spell with Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk.

Khalili further emphasized Kazim-Richards’ experience and leadership qualities, stating, “Colin enjoyed a highly accomplished playing career and brings a wealth of experience across all levels of the game. That depth of knowledge will be invaluable given our current situation. Just as importantly, he has the ability to connect with players, inspire confidence, and foster a strong, unified environment within the squad.”

Kazim-Richards’ first match in charge will be a home fixture against Gillingham on Saturday, March 28th, followed by a crucial away trip to relegation rivals Newport County on Fine Friday.
