Cold Lake Council Backs Agricultural Society‘s Grandstand Upgrade with CFEP support Letter
COLD LAKE – City of Cold Lake council has officially lent its support to the Cold Lake Agricultural Society’s initiative to enhance its grandstand facilities. At a special meeting on July 15, council passed a motion to provide a letter of support for the society’s submission to the provincial Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP).
The proposed project focuses on replacing the aging wooden planks on the grandstand bleachers with more durable aluminum alternatives. This upgrade aims to improve the longevity and safety of the popular spectator area at the agricultural society’s grounds.
City management clarified that the project, while involving material replacement, does not necessitate engineering approvals as the essential structure of the grandstand will remain unaltered. Chief Administrative Officer Kevin Nagoya confirmed that the initiative addresses visible wear and weathering of the existing wooden components, with the agricultural society seeking to install aluminum platforms.
While the specific financial investment for the upgrade was not disclosed at the time of the council meeting, the approval of the support letter signifies a crucial step in the Cold Lake Agricultural Society’s efforts to secure provincial funding for this importent community enhancement.
