South Texas to Experience Dramatic Temperature Swing as Cold Front Arrives
San Antonio, TX – A sharp cold front is poised to sweep across South Texas tonight, triggering a staggering 50-degree temperature drop and possibly freezing conditions in the Hill Country. Residents are urged to prepare for a rapid shift from Saturday’s mild weather to bitterly cold temperatures by early Monday morning.
The front will move through overnight, ushering in strong winds and a significant decrease in temperatures. After 6 p.m., temperatures will fall into the 50s, continuing to plummet into the 40s after 10 p.m. San Antonio is forecast to experience low temperatures in the upper 30s by early Monday morning.Factoring in breezy winds, “feels-like” temperatures could briefly dip into the upper 20s between 5 and 7 a.m.
The Hill Country will face even more severe conditions. Cities like Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and Boerne could briefly fall below the freezing mark of 32 degrees, with wind chills expected to drop well into the 20s.
While Monday will bring a respite from the extreme cold, with high temperatures climbing into the low 60s under sunny skies and weakening winds, another frigid night is anticipated. Lows in San Antonio are predicted to fall to 36-37 degrees, slightly lower than Sunday night, while the Hill Country may experience another light freeze.
However, a swift warming trend is on the horizon. Southerly winds will return on Tuesday, pushing high temperatures back into the 70s. This warming will continue into Wednesday,with highs surging into the 80s. By Thursday and Friday, widespread high temperatures in the 80s are expected across Texas, accompanied by lows near 60 degrees.
