Codepresso Hosts Zero100 AI Builderthon for Korean Students in Singapore
AI education and capability assessment firm Codefresso hosted the “Zero100 AI Builderthon” in Singapore from August 22 to 29, 2026, engaging 53 Korean university students across 21 competing teams to build functional AI solutions based on real corporate workflows.
Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Corporate Workflows
The eight-day program departed from traditional idea pitch competitions by requiring student participants to construct operational software within a tight timeline. Local venture builder Wilt Venture Builder also contributed to the initial planning phases.
Out of 74 initial applicants, 25 teams started the challenge on day one, and 21 teams successfully completed the final presentations on August 29 at SMU, achieving an 84 percent completion rate. Codefresso designed the operational challenges around two core tracks reflecting actual company bottlenecks: Track 1 “Judgement,” which drew 14 teams, and Track 2 “Automation,” which attracted 7 teams.
Accelerated Mentorship and Vibe Coding Integration
Because many participants were non-development majors lacking prior vibe coding experience, Codefresso Chief AI Officer Jihun Kim led a three-hour online vibe coding crash course on the second day of the program. This session allowed students to build and deploy basic services using AI coding agents before transitioning into online one-on-one build mentoring sessions that ran through the seventh day of the event.
On August 28, participants attended an offline roundtable mentoring session. Mentors from Codefresso, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and NetApp rotated through tables every 30 minutes to review technical execution and pitching strategies. The same day featured a sharing session led by Translink Investment CEO Heeduk Park.
Awards were distributed across four categories: "Beyond Brief," "Business Potential," "Builders Choice," and "0→100." Ten of the 21 participating teams received recognition, with Track 2 team NCoded securing both the Business Potential and Builders Choice honors.
Institutionalizing Cross-Border AI Talent Pipelines
Following the conclusion of the inaugural event, Codefresso formalized its partnership with the student associations by signing a memorandum of understanding on August 28. The agreement outlines plans to hold the builderthon two to four times a year, link participating students with internship and employment opportunities at Codefresso and partner firms, and maintain localized AI educational initiatives in Singapore.
