Irish singer-songwriter CMAT has postponed the UK leg of her Euro-Country tour due to a severely infected wisdom tooth requiring immediate surgery. The cancellation impacts performances scheduled in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, and Newcastle over the coming week.
Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, known professionally as CMAT, announced the postponement on Instagram, expressing deep regret for the disruption to fans’ plans. A dentist has advised the removal of both lower wisdom teeth, necessitating at least two weeks of recovery. thompson explained she is currently experiencing debilitating pain, unable to chew food or “barely think straight.” Rescheduled dates for the october shows will be announced “as soon as possible.”
CMAT released her third album, Euro Country, in august. The title track addresses the impact of the 2008 financial crisis in Ireland. She had been scheduled to conclude her UK tour in March before continuing to Europe and a performance at the 2026 Coachella festival.
Earlier this year, CMAT performed at Glastonbury and spoke with the BBC about experiencing online fat-shaming following a previous festival appearance. In July, BBC Radio 1 clarified it had not intentionally edited out the Irish language intro to “Euro Country,” stating they played the version provided by CMAT’s label, AWAL, which omitted the first 45 seconds of the track.
