Claudia Winkleman will capture over the 10pm slot on BBC One currently held by Graham Norton, beginning Friday, March 13, with a new chat show titled The Claudia Winkleman Show. The program will be produced by Graham Stuart, who also produces Norton’s show, according to the BBC.
The announcement follows speculation regarding the future of Norton’s presence on the BBC, as he has increasingly pursued opportunities with other broadcasters. Jonathan Ross recently suggested that Norton was making “compromises” in terms of the guests appearing on his show, implying a shift towards more mainstream or accessible talent.
Winkleman, known for hosting the BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing and the reality competition Traitors, has established a reputation for a distinctive interviewing style. Ahead of the launch of Traitors, Winkleman reportedly implemented a rule prohibiting audience members from making eye contact with her during filming, a measure intended to heighten the show’s atmosphere of suspense. A similar approach to audience interaction is not yet confirmed for her new chat show.
The Claudia Winkleman Show aims to feature “the biggest names from the worlds of film, television, music, and beyond,” the BBC stated. The program’s format and specific guest list have not yet been disclosed.
Winkleman previously guest-hosted The Graham Norton Show in 2025, offering a preview of her potential approach to the format. The BBC has not commented on whether Stuart’s involvement signals a deliberate attempt to maintain continuity with Norton’s successful formula, or whether Winkleman will bring a significantly different style to the slot.
