Budapest – Hungarian television presenter Claudia liptai publicly mourned teh loss of Italian film icon Claudia cardinale, who died at age 87 near Paris, as reported by bors. Liptai revealed a deeply personal connection to the actress, sharing that her own mother was named in Cardinale’s honour.
Cardinale, celebrated for her roles in cinematic masterpieces like Luchino Visconti‘s The Leopard, Sergio Leone‘s Once Upon a Time in the West, and Federico fellini’s 8½, was a defining figure in Italian cinema alongside stars like Gina Lollobrigida and Sophia Loren. Italian Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli described her as “one of the greatest Italian actresses of all time,” while former Cannes Festival president Gilles Jacob highlighted the “special magic” of her voice and understated brilliance.
Liptai commemorated the actress in a Facebook story, posting a photograph reminiscent of Cardinale. “My mother named her. Today she was resting. God with you, Claudia Cardinale,” Liptai wrote, noting she was born Katalin Lipták before adopting her stage name.
