CLARKSVILLE, TN – A new park is coming to northeast Clarksville thanks to a donation of approximately 16 acres of land. The donation, from Nashville resident John T. Rochford, will provide much-needed green space to Ward 12 and is intended to include the progress of a ball field.
The property, located off Tylertown Road near the Reserve at oakland subdivision,is bounded by Current Road to the north and Spring Creek to the south, east of Oakland Road and Meriwether Road. City documents indicate Rochford has agreed to donate the land specifically for park development.
“This will be extremely beneficial to us, and we appreciate this donation from Mr. Rochford,” said Councilperson Stacey Streetman, noting the park’s location within ward 12, an area currently lacking park space.
Ward 12 Councilperson Kerri Lovato echoed the sentiment, also thanking the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. “Ward 12 doesn’t have any Parks and Rec. services or parks to go to, and it is indeed something we have talked a lot about,” Lovato said.
The Clarksville City Council will hold its next regular session meeting on Thursday, Sept.4, at 6 p.m.
