City of Santa Fe, employee union reach deal on contract | Local News

Santa Fe city officials and ⁢the city’s largest employee union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal​ Employees (AFSCME) Local 394, have reached a tentative agreement ‍on a new three-year​ contract. The deal, announced Tuesday, covers approximately 250 city employees and includes wage increases, enhanced ‌benefits, ‌and provisions addressing workplace safety.⁢

The agreement provides for a 3% wage increase each year of the contract, retroactive to July 1,⁢ 2023. It also includes increases‌ to the city’s⁣ contribution towards employee ⁣health insurance premiums ⁣and establishes a⁢ joint labor-management committee to address workplace safety concerns. Specific details of the agreement are being withheld ‌pending⁣ ratification by‍ union ‍members, which is scheduled for next week.

“This agreement reflects the city’s commitment to valuing its employees and providing them wiht ⁢fair ⁤compensation ⁤and benefits,” said City Manager John Blair in a statement. “We appreciate the collaborative⁣ spirit demonstrated by AFSCME throughout the negotiation⁣ process.”

AFSCME Local 394 President Stephanie Baca stated,⁤ “This contract is a⁢ win for city workers and the community. It recognizes the ⁤vital services our members ‍provide and ensures thay can continue to afford ⁣to live ​and work in Santa Fe.”

The‍ previous contract between the city and AFSCME ‌Local 394 ​expired June 30, 2023.Negotiations began in May 2023.The ‍city employs ‌roughly 700 peopel total, with AFSCME representing the largest bargaining unit.
