Reflecting on the interview, which revisited a critical 2006 anti-band social media post by the comedian, Cifrão admitted in subsequent media appearances that his defensive reaction on the program was unnecessary and that relations between the two public figures remain entirely peaceful.
The controversy began when the members of D’ZRT—an iconic pop group born from the hit television series Morangos com Açúcar—appeared as guests on Pedro Teixeira da Mota’s digital show.
During the session, the conversation turned toward an old online post written by the humorist in 2006. At the time, Teixeira da Mota had openly criticized the band’s musical output, writing that their tracks were terrible, the lyrics overly simplistic, and the singers irritating, even urging his followers to adopt an anti-D’ZRT stance.
Weighing the Risks of the Studio Interview
Faced with this historical critique live on air, Cifrão expressed immediate unease regarding the interview’s direction.
As reported in initial coverage, the musician remarked during the recording that he had weighed whether accepting the invitation was a smart risk, stating he spent days wondering if the host intended to corner them.
Cifrão Delivers Autocritical Remarks on Mega Hits
Days after the episode aired, the members of D’ZRT—including Cifrão, Edmundo Vieira, and Paulo Vintém—appeared on the Mega Hits program Cala-te Boca to address the widespread social media chatter.
“I think I was super defensive in the conversation I had with him and I think it was silly of me, actually,” Cifrão stated during the Mega Hits interview.
He added that upon watching the finished episode, his perspective shifted entirely. “Now that I watch the podcast, I didn’t feel that from Pedro. At the time I was having a bad day, I don’t know. Something happened and I was super defensive.”
Clearing the Air After Public Speculation
The musician moved quickly to dispel any ongoing rumors of a serious feud or genuine animosity between himself and the podcast host.
Emphasizing that the digital discourse had magnified a momentary misunderstanding, Cifrão confirmed that private communication had already cleared the air.
“In the meantime, Pedro and I have already exchanged messages and everything is cool,” Cifrão noted, highlighting that a positive rapport actually persisted even by the conclusion of the recorded interview itself.
