March 21, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Thirty teams commenced competition today at the Da Jiang Nan Hotel in Chun’an County, Zhejiang Province. The event drew the presence of Jiang Jun, Deputy Magistrate of the Chun’an County People’s Government, alongside Ni Wei, Vice President and Secretary General of the Sports Association, and Jin Hui, Chairman of the International Women’s Tennis Association. Du Nan, founder of the Jin Hui Tennis Club, was also in attendance.

Chun’an County, administered by Hangzhou City, is situated in the hilly western region of Zhejiang Province. According to data released in May 2025, the county governs 11 towns and 12 townships, with a resident population of 320,000 as of the end of 2024. The area has a history of administrative restructuring, having been formed in 1958 through the merger of Chun’an and Sui’an counties, and subsequently placed under Hangzhou’s jurisdiction in 1963.

The Da Jiang Nan Hotel, the venue for the competition, currently holds a 3 out of 5 rating on Tripadvisor, ranking 33rd out of 81 hotels in Chun’an County. Traveler reviews indicate a mixed reception.

Chun’an County is recognized as an “Ancient Revolutionary Base County” and is home to the Thousand Island Lake, a National 5A-level Scenic Area. The county is also designated as a pilot project zone for high-quality development and common prosperity within Zhejiang Province. In 2024, Chun’an County’s regional gross domestic product reached 29.485 billion yuan, representing a 5% year-on-year increase.

The purpose of the competition, and the specific nature of the teams participating, remain undisclosed. No further details were released by the Chun’an County People’s Government or the Sports Association following the opening of the event.
