Christian Bale’s American Psycho arrives on Viaplay, moviezine.se reports
Patrick Bateman’s descent into sadistic murder arrives on Viaplay, bringing Christian Bale’s dark portrayal to a streaming platform alongside a soundtrack and a supporting cast that features Willem Dafoe and Reese Witherspoon, moviezine.se reported.
Christian Bale Takes On Patrick Bateman in Mary Harron’s Adaptation
The film adapts Bret Easton Ellis’s novel about a narcissistic young financial man who moonlights as a serial killer. Director Mary Harron brought prior experience from television series like Oz and Six Feet Under to the production, shaping its blend of violence and dark comedy. Christian Bale stars as Bateman, supported by Justin Theroux, Chloé Sevigny, Reese Witherspoon, Willem Dafoe, and Jared Leto.
The narrative relies on twisted situations and a bizarre protagonist. The soundtrack pairs original film score elements with period-accurate 1980s hits from David Bowie, The Cure, Phil Collins, and Huey Lewis and the News to match the tone of the production.
Mattias Blomberg Rates the Satire 4 out of 5
Blomberg noted that the feature functions as a modern cult classic that uses the film medium to its maximum potential while preserving the core tone of the original novel.
The release expands Viaplay’s current film and series catalog, joining titles such as Lost and Westworld. Subscriptions for the streaming service start at 99 kronor per month.
Viewers can now stream American Psycho directly on Viaplay. The platform rollout coincides with other notable cinema arrivals, including the theatrical premiere of the 1971 horror classic, alongside the availability of all six seasons of the mystery series Lost.
