Dabert Reimagines Schiller‘s ‘Mary Stuart’ for Fall Tour
Reims kicks off a national tour this week of Chloé Dabert’s new staging and adaptation of Friedrich Schiller’s historical drama, marie Stuart. The production, featuring the fraught dynamic between Queen Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots, opens October 2nd at the Comédie de reims.
Dabert, previously recognized for her work with contemporary playwrights like Dennis Kelly, Carryl Churchill, and Lola Lafon, now turns her attention to this cornerstone of German theater. Marie Stuart recounts the 16th-century confrontation between the Protestant Elizabeth and the Catholic Mary, set against the volatile backdrop of Europe’s religious conflicts. This new interpretation promises to bring fresh perspective to a classic tale of power, faith, and rivalry, reaching audiences across France through April 2026.
