Dabert Reimagines Schiller‘s ‘Mary Stuart’ for Fall Tour

Reims kicks off a national tour this week of Chloé Dabert’s new staging and adaptation of Friedrich Schiller’s historical drama, marie Stuart. The production, featuring‌ the fraught dynamic between⁣ Queen Elizabeth I and Mary,⁤ Queen of Scots, opens ⁤October 2nd at the ⁣Comédie de reims.

Dabert, previously recognized for her work with contemporary playwrights like Dennis Kelly, Carryl Churchill, ‌and Lola Lafon, now ⁣turns her attention to this cornerstone​ of German theater. Marie Stuart recounts the 16th-century confrontation between the ⁢Protestant Elizabeth and the Catholic‍ Mary, set against the volatile backdrop of Europe’s religious conflicts. This new‌ interpretation promises to bring fresh perspective to a classic ⁢tale of power, faith, and rivalry, reaching audiences across⁤ France through⁤ April 2026.
