However, the competitive season saw an immediate turnaround. Chivas secured a 2-0 victory over J1 on January 10th at the Akron Stadium, with goals from Armando González and Daniel Aguirre. A 0-1 loss to J2 on January 13th at Benito Juárez Stadium did not halt their momentum.
Subsequent wins followed in quick succession: a 2-1 triumph over J3 on January 17th at Akron, fueled by goals from Armando González and Roberto Alvarado, and a 2-3 defeat of J4 on January 31st at A. Lastras, where João Pedro Geraldino dos Santos Galvão scored twice, alongside a goal from Richard Ledezma.
