Chile Vacation Bonus 2024: Amounts & Eligibility

by Emma Walker – News Editor

Chilean public sector workers will receive a vacation bonus in early 2026, a benefit designed to alleviate financial pressures during the summer holiday period. The payment, a recurring benefit, was confirmed following the annual sector negotiation and subsequent approval of the public sector adjustment project.

The amount of the bonus varies based on each worker’s net income as of November 2025, according to information released by the Directorate of Budget (Dipres). Those earning a net income of 1,060,493 Chilean pesos or less will receive 112,915 pesos. Workers earning between 1,060,493 and 3,511,800 pesos will receive 56,457 pesos.

The bonus is intended as a one-time payment to protect the purchasing power of state employees against economic fluctuations, Dipres stated. The benefit applies to a broad range of public sector entities, including centralized and decentralized state institutions, state universities, the Judiciary, the National Congress, the Comptroller General of the Republic, and publicly funded early childhood education centers administered by JUNJI. Municipalities and Local Public Education Services are also included.

The payment of the vacation bonus is part of a broader package of benefits for public sector workers approved in January, according to reporting from BioBioChile. The approval of the public sector adjustment project also included other pending bonuses for these workers.

The process for capturing data related to the bonus was opened on January 9th, 2026, and closed on January 16th, 2026, at 10:00 hours, as reported by Comunidadescolar.cl. The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) will transfer the corresponding resources after data is submitted by the institutions. Institutions are required to declare income brackets only for permanent or contracted staff, excluding those hired on an honorarium basis.

The system used for data capture already contains information on teachers and teaching assistants previously provided during the SIGE teacher suitability process. Institutions can synchronize data and add any missing personnel through the SIGE system before submitting the bonus information.
