
CHICAGO – registration is now open for teh 2025 Chicago River Swim, marking its return after a nearly century-long hiatus.Applications are being accepted until 10:00 p.m. Monday, August 11th.
The inaugural swim,held in 2024,successfully raised over $200,000 benefiting ALS research through the Les Turner ALS Foundation and youth swim safety programs managed by the Chicago Park District.The 2024 event saw approximately 150 swimmers complete the 1.2-mile course, starting near the iconic Michigan Avenue bridge and finishing at River Park.
This year’s swim, scheduled for September 2025, will again be a 1.2-mile open water swim down the Chicago river. Applicants must demonstrate prior swim experience.Successful applicants will be required to meet specific fundraising goals, details of which are available on the event website.
The Chicago River Swim is organized by a coalition including the Chicago Park District, Friends of the Chicago River, and the Les Turner ALS Foundation. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for critical causes while celebrating the city’s unique waterway.
