Cherry Blossoms in Basel: Spring Blooms Captured From Above
Basel’s cherry blossoms are currently in full bloom, drawing residents and visitors to admire the seasonal spectacle. Photographer Kostas Maros captured aerial views of blossoming trees along the Rudolf-Wackernagel-Strasse in Riehen, where a continuous row of cherry trees creates a vibrant display.
The early bloom this year is attributed to the warmer temperatures experienced in the region, according to reports from Basler Zeitung. Maros’s photographs showcase the trees in shades of pink and white, casting delicate shadows on the surrounding landscape.
While the Rudolf-Wackernagel-Strasse is a prominent hotspot, blossoms are likewise appearing in other areas of Basel, including Rütihard, where some trees are flowering in white rather than the typical pink.
Kostas Maros, a Swiss photographer based in Basel, has worked with international editorial, corporate, and advertising clients. He previously exhibited his art project, “Hidden,” at the water reservoir IWB Filter 4 in 2018 and at the Museum Forum Würth Arlesheim in 2019. His operate, “Myths of Everyday Life,” was on display at Galerie 94 in Baden, Switzerland, from October 31 to December 20, 2025, with an opening on October 30 and a closing event on December 20.
Tanja Opiasa, the news desk chief for Basler Zeitung since October 2025, oversaw the publication of the report on the cherry blossoms. She previously served as a department head for 20 Minuten, focusing on Basel-related news.
