Chelsea‘s Shirt Sponsor Situation Deemed “Embarrassing” by Top Insider
London, UK – Chelsea Football Club continues to operate without a permanent front-of-shirt sponsor as the end of November approaches, a situation described as “embarrassing” by respected journalist Matt Law. This marks the third consecutive season the Blues have begun play without a main sponsor, seeking a deal valued around £60 million per season.
While Chelsea has secured short-term sponsorships – including Infinite Athlete for a portion of the 2023/2024 campaign and property firm Damac for select matches at the end of last season – a long-term solution remains elusive.
Law’s reporting highlights the growing frustration surrounding the lack of a sponsor, stating,”It needs to be sorted out. It’s embarrassing.” Despite the apparent concern, the club doesn’t appear overly troubled by the ongoing issue, according to Law.
The absence of a sponsor is demonstrably impacting Chelsea’s revenue stream compared to competitors. Liverpool currently earns £50 million annually through its partnership with Standard Chartered, while Manchester United reportedly receives £60 million per season from Snapdragon.
Chelsea offset some financial concerns this summer with over £300 million in player sales, but the club is actively seeking choice revenue streams to compensate for the lost income from a missing shirt sponsorship deal.
