DENVER (November 24, 2023) - Denver motorists are experiencing a significant break at the pump as gas prices continue to fall, with one station reporting prices under $2 per gallon on Sunday, according to data from GasBuddy. The timing couldn’t be better, coinciding with the start of a major Thanksgiving travel weekend.
The dip in prices offers significant savings for Denver-area residents and the influx of travelers expected to pass through the region. Lower fuel costs translate directly into more disposable income for holiday spending and reduced travel expenses. GasBuddy analysts predict continued, though potentially slower, price declines in the coming weeks, dependent on crude oil prices and seasonal demand.
As of Monday morning, the average gas price in Denver is $2.47 per gallon - a decrease of 14.5 cents over the past week. This price is lower than the national average of $3.03 and nearly 30 cents less than the average price in Denver a year ago. November 24th’s average is the lowest seen in Denver as 2020, and excluding the pandemic-related dip of that year, represents the lowest price for this date since 2017. it is indeed also the lowest average price recorded in Denver so far this year.

The Shell station on Evans Avenue boasted the lowest price in the entire state. The highest price observed in denver during the same period was $3.29 per gallon - a $1.35 difference.
Beyond Denver, surrounding areas are also benefiting from falling prices.Fort Collins’ average is $2.59 per gallon, down 7.3 cents from the previous week.Colorado Springs has seen a 14.7-cent drop to an average of $2.49 per gallon. Statewide, the average price has decreased by 12.8 cents to $2.71 per gallon.
