Charlotte Cardin was named the best female artist at the 41st annual Victoires de la Musique awards ceremony held Friday evening at La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. The Quebecoise singer-songwriter received the award in recognition of her rising prominence, particularly following the success of her 2023 single, “Feel Great.”
Cardin expressed her gratitude, stating, “For a Quebecoise who recently moved to Paris, I couldn’t have dreamed of a better welcome from the French,” according to reports from BFM TV and France Bleu. The award marks a significant achievement for the artist, who was also identified as an “ICI 2025” talent, signaling her potential within the French music scene.
The Victoires de la Musique, a key event in the French music calendar, also honored Theodora and the rapper Disiz, alongside Cardin and Sam Sauvage. The ceremony, presided over by Mika and hosted by Helena Noguerra and Cyril Féraud, was broadcast on France 2 and France Inter.
A special award was presented to the rock group Indochine for their record-breaking tour, which attracted over one million spectators. Patrick Bruel, speaking on RTL, congratulated Cardin, stating, “J’ai eu la joie de la coacher,” (I had the joy of coaching her), highlighting a mentorship relationship.
Theodora was also a prominent figure at the awards, nominated in five categories including female revelation, stage revelation, album, song, and clip of the year for “Fashion Designa.” Helena, a Belgian singer discovered on Star Academy, also received recognition. The awards reflect a blend of musical styles, encompassing pop, rap, and rock, and the increasing intersection of these genres, according to BFM TV.
The ceremony began with Cardin’s win, setting the tone for an evening celebrating diverse musical talent. The event underscored the evolving landscape of French music, acknowledging both established artists like Indochine and emerging stars like Cardin and Theodora.
