Mentor Details Frantic Race to Hospital with Charlie Kirk After Shooting
A mentor to the late Charlie Kirk recounted the harrowing moments promptly following the shooting, describing a desperate, four-mile drive to the hospital with Kirk critically wounded. The 63-year-old, who identified himself as the “man in the white hat” initially misidentified in online speculation, addressed and dismissed theories suggesting he was signaling to the shooter, Tyler Robinson, calling them “stupid” and emphasizing the presence of a sniper rendered such signals unneeded.
According to the account shared on a recent podcast, Kirk was shot and immediatly his team rushed him into an SUV. Due to kirk’s height, the vehicle’s door could not be fully closed during the rapid transport to the hospital. “We drove four miles…all the way to the hospital with the door open,” the mentor recalled, noting the driver, Brian, maintained control despite the chaotic situation.
Throughout the journey, the mentor attempted to encourage Kirk, repeatedly urging, ”Come on, Charlie. Come on. Come on.” CPR was initiated in the vehicle, but the mentor stated he felt Kirk was already “looking past me, right into eternity. He was with Jesus already.”
Medical professionals later informed them the gunshot wound was “catastrophic,” despite briefly restoring Kirk’s heartbeat. The mentor emphasized that improved first aid or faster transport would not have altered the outcome, offering solace that “Charlie didn’t suffer” and was “gone…with Jesus.”
The mentor concluded by sharing a Gospel message, stating Kirk “devoted his life to making heaven crowded,” and expressing a commitment to continue that mission.
