Charli XCX is expanding her creative footprint into film, with her upcoming project The Moment boasting a star-studded cast including Kylie Jenner, Rachel Sennott, and Alexander Skarsgård. the A24-backed film, directed by aidan Zamiri, is slated for a 2026 theatrical release.
Nine months after A24 initially announced Charli XCX’s leading role, a teaser released Thursday revealed the ensemble cast also features Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Drew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Rish Shah, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè, Shygirl, and A. G. Cook. The Moment marks a meaningful step for the pop artist, known for her innovative music, into a more prominent film role, building on momentum from her recent album Brat and her performance in Peter Ohs’ Erupcja.
The film, written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, is based on an original idea from Charli XCX and centers on a rising pop star navigating the pressures of fame as she prepares for her frist arena tour. Longtime collaborator A. G. Cook, who has frequently produced music for Charli, will also contribute to the film’s soundtrack.
According to a press release, The Moment explores “the complexities of fame and industry pressure.” The teaser released Thursday contained only the cast list, offering no visual previews of the film itself.
