Chappell Roan: Soccer Star Claims She Made Daughter Cry at Lollapalooza Brazil
Brazilian soccer star Jorginho Frello accused American pop singer Chappell Roan’s security team of aggressively confronting his family at a São Paulo hotel on Saturday, leaving his 11-year-old daughter in tears, according to a statement posted to Jorginho’s Instagram account.
Jorginho, who currently plays for Flamengo and previously for Chelsea and Arsenal, stated that his wife, Cat Cavelli, and daughter were attending Lollapalooza Brazil and encountered Roan at their hotel. He explained that his daughter, excited to see an artist she admired, briefly looked towards Roan’s table to confirm her identity, smiling as she did so.
According to Jorginho, a member of Roan’s security team then approached his family and “began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and daughter, saying she shouldn’t allow my daughter to ‘disrespect’ and ‘harass’ other people.” He further alleged that the security guard threatened to file a complaint with the hotel.
“My daughter got super scared and cried a lot,” Jorginho wrote. “Honestly, I don’t know in what world just passing by a table and looking… can be considered harassment.”
Jorginho, accustomed to public attention as a professional athlete, expressed his disappointment with the incident, stating, “Without your fans, you would be nothing. And to the fans, she does not deserve your affection.”
The incident follows recent scrutiny of Roan, including a call from Boy George for the singer to “cheer up” and enjoy her success after a recent encounter with paparazzi, as reported by Newsweek.
Representatives for Chappell Roan have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding Jorginho’s allegations, according to reports from Variety and TMZ.
