Chappell Roan: Singer Responds After Security Guard ‘Made Jorginho’s Daughter Cry’
Pop singer Chappell Roan has responded to accusations made by footballer Jorginho that her security team acted aggressively towards his wife and 11-year-old daughter in São Paulo, Brazil. The incident occurred after the family encountered Roan at a hotel, according to a statement posted by Jorginho on Instagram Saturday.
Jorginho, who currently plays for Flamengo after previous stints with Arsenal and Chelsea, alleged that a security guard spoke to his wife and daughter “in an extremely aggressive manner.” He stated his daughter was “extremely shaken and cried a lot” following the interaction. The footballer also criticized Roan directly, writing, “Without your fans, you would be nothing.”
Roan addressed the claims in a video posted to her own Instagram account Sunday, expressing sadness over the situation. She clarified that the security guard was not personally hired by her and that she was unaware of the encounter at the time. “I didn’t even see a woman and a child… no one came up to me,” she said. Roan emphasized that she was at breakfast in the hotel and that the family appeared to be hotel guests as well.
“It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe, because there’s no action even taken,” Roan continued. She stated she does not dislike fans or children and apologized to the mother and child if they felt uncomfortable, adding, “You did not deserve that.”
The incident comes after Roan previously voiced concerns about fan behavior in a series of TikTok videos in 2024, addressing what she described as “entitled” and “creepy” interactions and emphasizing the importance of boundaries between celebrities and their fans.
Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, rose to prominence with tracks including “Pink Pony Club,” “Good Luck, Babe!,” “Hot To Go!,” and “Red Wine Supernova.” She won a Brit Award in 2024.
