Opta Analytics Predicts Strong europa League Run for feyenoord, Dim Prospects for Dutch Champions League Hopefuls

September 11, 2025 – New data analytics from Opta reveal a surprisingly high probability of Europa League success for Feyenoord, while casting doubt on the Champions League aspirations of Dutch powerhouses PSV Eindhoven and Ajax. The projections, based on 10,000 computer simulations, were released today by choose.

OptaS Champions League simulations place Liverpool as the frontrunner with a 20.4% chance of lifting the trophy, followed by Arsenal (16%) and Paris Saint-Germain (12.1%). however, the outlook is bleak for two Dutch clubs. PSV, alongside Bayern Munich and PSG, faces what Opta deems the “toughest draw of all clubs” in the competition phase, with a minimal 0.3% chance of overall victory. Ajax doesn’t even appear in Opta’s rankings, effectively eliminating them as contenders. Newcomers Kairat, Pafos, and Qarabag also received negligible chances.

The Europa League picture is significantly brighter for Dutch depiction. Aston Villa leads the pack with a 21.6% probability of winning, trailed by AS Roma (12.8%) and Nottingham Forest (11.3%). Remarkably, Feyenoord secures a sixth-place ranking with a 5.2% chance of claiming the title. FC Utrecht is also considered a longshot with a 0.5% chance, while Go Ahead Eagles did not feature in the overview.

choose‘s calculations suggest Feyenoord remains competitive amongst potential winners alongside teams like Bologna, FC Porto, Real betis, and Fenerbahçe.

The report, authored by Mart van Mourik and last updated September 11, 2025, at 18:17, provides a data-driven assessment of each team’s prospects as the European club competitions get underway.
