Biwin has released the first CFexpress type B memory card to achieve Video Performance Guarantee (VPG) 800 certification, signaling a new standard for professional video recording. The card, currently priced around €399.99, promises sustained write speeds capable of handling demanding 8K video workflows and high-bitrate cinematic capture.
This certification, finalized in March 2025, assures content creators that the card can reliably maintain a minimum sustained write speed of 800MB/s – a significant leap from the earlier VPG400 standard. While most existing VPG400 cards are expected to meet the stricter VPG800 requirements with firmware updates, Biwin’s card is the first to ship with the certification pre-validated. The arrival of VPG800-certified cards addresses growing demands from professional videographers and filmmakers for dependable, high-performance storage solutions as video resolutions and frame rates continue to increase. Further certifications, including VPG1600, are anticipated in the near future.
