Iconic 1960s Music Collective to Embark on “The Last Concert”

A generation of Korean music lovers is set to bid farewell as the legendary folk group Ce Sibong announces their final national tour. Five members, instrumental in shaping the nation’s youth music scene, will reunite for a series of performances commemorating their enduring legacy.

A Gathering of Icons

The ensemble, whose roots trace back to the famed Mugyo-dong music hub in the 1960s, comprises pioneers such as Song Chang-sik, Cho Young-nam, Yoon Hyung-ju, and Kim Se-hwan. Broadcaster Lee Sang-byok will also join the lineup for , marking a significant reunion of artists who defined an era.

A Storied Legacy Continues

The tour kicks off next month in Seongnam, with subsequent dates scheduled in Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Suwon, Goyang, Daegu, and Daejeon. This tour is particularly notable as it will be the final national outing under the banner of ‘Ce Sibong’.

The concert program will feature not only the celebrated solo artists but also highlights from collaborations and special segments dedicated to their enduring friendships. Director Kim Il-tae, known for his work on popular television programs, is helming the production, promising an experience that blends nostalgia with contemporary appeal.

Unprecedented Reunion and Past Triumphs

While members of Ce Sibong have previously embarked on national tours, this gathering marks a special occasion with all key figures participating. The group’s impact was further cemented by a 2015 film based on their collective story.

The concert series aims to be a landmark event in Korean pop music history. CEO Kim Seok-show commented, The five individuals who spearheaded the golden age of folk music have agreed to appear together as ‘Ce Sibong Friends’. He added, This national tour will be a monumental moment to stay in Korean pop music history beyond simple performances.

The music industry continues to see the revival of classic acts, with artists like ABBA recently launching a new digital avatar concert series, demonstrating the enduring appeal of beloved musicians. Ce Sibong’s tour taps into this sentiment, offering fans a chance to relive cherished memories.

The national tour dates include the Opera House at Seongnam Art Center on August 6 and the Olympic Hall in Seoul Olympic Park on October 11. The group will then travel to other major cities across South Korea.
