GloboNews Seeks Anchor as Tralli transitions to Jornal Nacional
SÃO PAULO – GloboNews is currently without a designated anchor for its flagship news program following César Tralli’s move to Jornal Nacional,a shift prompted by William Bonner‘s departure after 29 years. The network’s plans to fill the vacancy are intricate by Natuza Nery’s reluctance to leave her role as a commentator, despite being a top consideration for the position.
The leadership shuffle at Globo, announced Monday, impacts several key news roles. Tralli will co-anchor Jornal Nacional with Renata Vasconcellos, while Roberto Kovalick is slated to lead Jornal Hoje. Tiago Scheuer will take over the opening segment of the morning news program. GloboNews initially hoped to assemble a team of Andréia Sadi, Julia Duailibi, and Nery for the newscast, but Nery reportedly prefers her current position and her daily podcast, “O Assunto.”
If Nery declines the anchor role, globonews management will need to identify alternative candidates. Bonner will remain with Jornal Nacional until November 3rd, after which he will transition to Globo Repórter alongside Sandra Annenberg. Cristiana Souza Cruz will assume Bonner’s former role as editor-in-chief of Jornal Nacional. Bonner’s tenure on Jornal Nacional, beginning April 1, 1996, with Lillian Witte, surpassed that of Cid Moreira (1969-1996) as the longest-running anchor of the program.
