CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Boston College on Saturday, hampered by injuries to key players in the starting lineup.
The Sugar Bears concluded their weekend with the loss, falling to the Eagles in straight sets. Despite the setback,sophomore Ella Chaney recorded a season-high 10 kills,leading the team offensively. Caylan Koons and Sophie Skinner combined for 20 assists, while Alexis McDaniel anchored the defense with 14 digs.
Boston College established early dominance, opening the frist set with a 10-5 run. Central Arkansas struggled to recover, conceding multiple 5-0 runs and ultimately dropping the first set. The second set saw a spirited comeback from the Sugar Bears, fueled by a 7-1 run that gave them a 13-11 lead. The set remained fiercely competitive, reaching a 22-22 tie and extending through multiple set points before Boston College prevailed.
The third set mirrored the second’s back-and-forth intensity, with Chaney contributing four kills to keep Central Arkansas in contention. Trailing 23-18, the Sugar Bears rallied with kills from Chaney and Samantha Cousins to tie the set at 23-23. However, Boston College closed out the match with consecutive kills.Central Arkansas will travel to Chicago next weekend for a tournament hosted by Chicago State, begining with a match against the Cougars on Friday at 12 p.m.
