KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Center School District has agreed to a $470,000 settlement with former Superintendent Dr.Yolanda Cargile, according to documents obtained through a Missouri Sunshine Request. The payout follows Dr. Cargile’s resignation earlier this year and allegations of unlawful employment practices.

Dr. Cargile served as the district’s superintendent for five years before resigning from her position in February 2025.

The documents, including the settlement agreement, Dr. Cargile’s contract, her resignation letter, and minutes from the january 9, 2025 board meeting, reveal that Dr. Cargile filed charges of discrimination against the district with both the U.S. Equal employment prospect Commission (EEOC) and the Missouri Commission on Human Rights (MCHR).

While the district agreed to the $470,000 settlement, signed on January 24, 2025, it explicitly denies any wrongdoing or liability in the agreement. Dr. cargile officially resigned on February 1, 2025, eight days after the settlement was signed.

Dr. Cargile’s base salary during her final year with the district was $196,650. The settlement amount exceeds her annual salary by more than two and a third times.

KCTV5 reached out to Dr. Cargile for comment but she declined to speak on the matter. The district and its school board members have not yet responded to requests for comment.

The Center School District is currently operating with an interim superintendent, Dr. Troy Hogg,as detailed on the district’s website.
