Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will not return to Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears after sustaining a left ankle injury in the first quarter. the Pro Bowl selection was officially ruled out, marking a critically important blow to the Cowboys’ offensive firepower.
Lamb was injured with 8:34 remaining in the opening frame when Chicago Bears linebacker Noah Sewell landed on the back of Lamb’s legs during a running play, causing his ankle to twist. Though he briefly returned to the field at the start of the second quarter, Lamb appeared hampered by the injury and was soon relegated to the sideline, ultimately being ruled out for the remainder of the contest. This absence is especially impactful given Lamb’s strong start to the season, having recorded 100-yard receiving games in each of the Cowboys’ first two matchups.
The Cowboys will now look to Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, and George Pickens to fill the void left by lamb. Pickens already made an immediate impact, securing a one-handed touchdown catch from Dak Prescott and contributing to a successful two-point conversion that tied the score late in the second quarter.
Lamb has proven remarkably durable throughout his career, having missed onyl three games prior to this injury, including the final two games of last season due to a shoulder issue. The severity of the ankle injury and its potential impact on his availability for future games remains to be seen.
