CeeDee Lamb expressed confidence he will play next Sunday despite sustaining an ankle injury during Sunday’s game against teh Arizona Cardinals. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver briefly left the game after removing his left cleat and seeking treatment in the medical tent, returning for one play in the second quarter before remaining on the bench for the remainder of the half.
Lamb’s availability is critical for the Cowboys’ offense, as he had recorded consecutive 100-yard receiving games entering Sunday’s matchup and four such performances dating back to last season. While he admitted to rushing his return attempt, both Lamb and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed optimism about the injury not being serious.
“This is like one of those protect me away from myself type of deals,” Lamb said. “Once I start feeling much better and then I started to get the strength back in my ankle… I was ready to go back out there, but they took me out.”
Jones echoed that sentiment following the game, stating, “I talked to him, he felt good about it… He thought he could go, so that’s a good sign. And then the doctors told him that they thought it was not as serious as it could be.”
Lamb will undergo further testing on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury. He did not record a reception during the game, with his only touch coming on a carry. The Cowboys face the Green Bay Packers next week at AT&T Stadium. Last season, Lamb played through a shoulder injury for much of the year before ultimately missing the final games of the season.
