CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Teh Cedarville Yellow Jackets men’s soccer team kicks off its 2025 season with a challenging pair of Midwest Region contests, hosting Ferris State and Grand Valley State this week.The matchups represent an early test for the Jackets as they navigate a competitive schedule.
The Yellow Jackets begin with Ferris State on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. EDT, followed by a Saturday afternoon clash against Grand Valley State at 2:30 p.m.Both games are meaningful regional contests and mark the start of a four-game non-league stretch against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponents. These early-season battles will be crucial in gauging Cedarville’s potential as they prepare for their Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) schedule.
This marks the second consecutive year Cedarville opens its campaign against Ferris State. Last fall’s contest ended in a 2-2 draw, with Ferris State holding a 2-0-1 advantage in the all-time series. Fans can follow both games live on FloCollege and via Live Stats.
Ferris State is predicted to finish third in the GLIAC, while Grand Valley State, a seven-time Division II national champion, is favored to win the conference. The Lakers have won all seven of their national titles as 2009 and are currently ranked No.5 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II preseason poll. Grand Valley State also boasts a 4-0 record against Cedarville, including a 1-0 victory in 2024.
Following the home contests, the Jackets will travel to Michigan’s upper Peninsula to face Michigan Tech on September 11 and Northern Michigan on September 13. Cedarville’s G-MAC opener is scheduled for September 18 at home against Findlay.
