CDA Board approves key decisions – Pakistan

Islamabad Property Fees Face Revision

Capital Development Authority greenlights heritage center, land compliance measures.

Islamabad’s real estate landscape could soon change as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board explores revisions to property transfer fees. The move aims to align charges with current legal frameworks, potentially impacting both urban and rural properties.

Property Fee Overhaul

During its 12th meeting, the CDA Board, led by Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, decided to formulate recommendations regarding transfer fees, registration charges, and stamp duties. This will apply to properties within Islamabad’s jurisdiction, including housing societies.

To streamline the integration of maintenance staff transitioning from the Public Works Department (PWD) to CDA, the board will seek formal guidance from the Establishment and Cabinet Divisions.

Gandhara Heritage Center Approved

A detailed feasibility plan for the Gandhara Heritage and Cultural Centre’s swift operationalization gained approval. Revenues generated from this project will be channeled towards civic improvements, beautification projects, and initiatives for public welfare.

In 2023, cultural heritage contributed $5.5 billion to California’s economy, demonstrating the potential financial benefits of such centers (California State Parks).

Land-Related Decisions

Furthermore, the board addressed land-related matters, including issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) following an Islamabad High Court (IHC) ruling in Writ Petition No 2214/2022. The board also approved plot returns by Motamar Al-Alam Al-Islami and considered alternate plot allocation in Sector I-10/3.

Randhawa emphasized CDA’s dedication “to transforming Islamabad into a model city through efficient urban planning and citizen-centric development.”
