CBU Concludes The Joust with victory Over New Mexico, Posada & Brown Earn All-Tournament Honors
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist University (CBU) volleyball defeated the University of New Mexico (UNM) in four sets (25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 25-16) on Saturday, concluding play at The Joust tournament hosted at Van Dyne Gym. The win caps a strong showing for the Lancers and earns accolades for CBU standouts, as lauren Posada and Maddie Brown were both named to The Joust All-Tournament Team.
The victory over New Mexico marked a resilient performance for CBU, overcoming an early challenge from the Lobos. After taking the first two sets, UNM responded with a 25-18 win in the third. However,the Lancers regained control in the fourth,fueled by strong offensive and defensive play,ultimately securing the match.
Posada delivered a career-high 18 kills with a .382 hitting percentage, adding five digs in her first start of the season. Emery DeJong recorded her second consecutive double-double with 16 kills and 14 digs, alongside a season-best three blocks. CBU’s service game was also a key factor, led by five aces from Reagan Rossman. Brown orchestrated the offense with 43 assists and 11 digs, earning her another double-double.
Throughout The Joust tournament, Brown showcased her consistent performance, totaling 131 assists across 12 sets, alongside 37 digs and double-doubles in all three matches. Posada’s impact was immediate, registering 29 kills on a .440 hitting percentage in just seven sets, with 12 digs and three aces.
The Lancers will continue thier non-conference schedule at a tournament beginning Thursday, September 18, against #22 Utah.
