castelmayran, France – August 6, 2024 – The village of Castelmayran is set to host its fourth annual “Gourmet Concert” this evening, offering residents and visitors a blend of live jazz music, refreshments, and community spirit. The event, organized by the Castelmayran municipality in collaboration with the local festival committee and various town associations, aims to revitalize the village center and foster social interaction.
“From the beginning of our term, we’ve prioritized creating opportunities for community and togetherness,” stated Sébastien Castagné, a municipal official overseeing the culture commission. “This Gourmet Concert is designed to make culture accessible to everyone, bringing life back to the heart of Castelmayran and providing a space for people to connect and enjoy a pleasant evening with music.”
Mississippi Jazz Band to headline Summer Event
Attendees can expect a relaxed atmosphere with tables set up for socializing and a refreshment bar offering drinks. The musical highlight will be a performance by the mississippi Jazz Band,a well-established ensemble known throughout the region. Castagné, whose father was a trumpet professor and a mentor to band member José Haro, expressed his enthusiasm for the group’s expertise in New Orleans jazz.
The Mississippi Jazz Band, a quintet, will perform standards from the golden age of jazz, featuring compositions by iconic artists such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Sydney Bechet. The band frequently collaborates with vocalists to enhance their performances, and a singer will join them on stage this wednesday evening.
With decades of experience performing across Europe, the Mississippi Jazz band has shared the stage with notable musicians including Marc Laferrière, Daniel Huck, Patrick Bacqueville, nicolas Montier, and even Wynton Marsalis during the Marciac festival. The band’s repertoire is known for its energy and generous spirit.
The concert will take place on Place des Platanes, beginning at 7:00 PM. As the sun sets,strategically placed lighting will create a more intimate ambiance for the evening. Castelmayran’s population is approximately 750 residents, and the event is expected to draw attendees from neighboring towns like Marmande (approximately 17,000 residents) and Tonneins (approximately 2,500 residents).
