A massive Italian-built continuous flight auger, the largest of its kind in Brazil, arrived at the Senna Tower construction site in São Paulo early Saturday morning, according to reports from CPG Click Petróleo e Gás. The 87-ton machine is intended to accelerate the deep foundation work for the planned skyscraper.
The arrival occurred at 6:30 a.m. Local time on Carnival Saturday, a period typically associated with festivities, but marked by focused construction activity at the Senna Tower site. Engineers and operators were present to oversee the delivery and preparation of the equipment, which will drill piles up to 40 meters deep to bedrock, ensuring the structural integrity of the building.
The Senna Tower is planned to exceed 550 meters in height, requiring an extensive and robust foundation. The continuous flight auger is expected to significantly expedite this process, working in conjunction with existing drilling rigs already on location. The machine’s arrival represents a key step in the project’s progression, according to the construction team.
While the machine was being installed, the state of Santa Catarina was under a Civil Defense alert for severe storms, with forecasts of heavy rain, hail, and strong winds between Saturday afternoon and Sunday night. The alert, issued by the NDMAIS portal, covered all regions of the state, though the immediate impact on the Senna Tower construction was not reported.
