Caribbean Airlines Cancels Flights to Jamaica – What Travelers Need to Know

Caribbean‍ Airlines Cancels Flights Between⁢ Florida and Jamaica, Offers Refunds

Caribbean Airlines is discontinuing flights between Fort ⁤Lauderdale and both Kingston and‌ Montego bay,⁣ Jamaica, effective November 1, 2025. The affected flight numbers are:

* BW 31: Kingston to Fort Lauderdale
* BW ⁣30: Fort lauderdale to Kingston
* BW 33:⁢ Montego Bay to Fort Lauderdale
* ⁣⁤ BW 32: Fort Lauderdale⁣ to Montego Bay

These ⁤flights had recently resumed after a five-year pause, with the Montego‍ bay to Fort Lauderdale route restarting in December 2024 and expanding ‍to daily service by March 2025. The cancellation significantly reduces travel options for visitors to Jamaica.

Why the Cancellation?

The decision stems from low passenger numbers. According to The jamaica Gleaner, the load factor on the Kingston and Fort⁣ Lauderdale flights dropped to 32%. Caribbean Airlines stated the change is necessary to maintain operational viability given current market conditions:

“This decision is a strategic step to ensure the continued viability of Caribbean Airlines’ operations ⁢in the face of evolving market ‌conditions.”

Refunds for Affected Passengers

Passengers with bookings on⁢ flights scheduled after November 1, 2025, will receive full refunds. ⁢Caribbean Airlines is proactively contacting affected travelers, and ⁣customer service teams are working with travel ‌agents to facilitate the refund process, as reported by Travel ‌and Tour World:

“Passengers affected by this change will be offered full refunds for their bookings. To ensure a smooth ⁣transition, the airline’s customer service teams are working closely with travel agents and other stakeholders to facilitate a seamless process⁢ for affected travelers.”

The airline’s decision is expected to be a disappointment for those with existing hotel or resort reservations in Jamaica, who now have limited time ‍to secure alternative travel ‍arrangements.
