Car Prices Drop: Ford, Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz & More Offer Discounts in [Year]

March 20, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Automobile prices in Argentina are falling, with some models experiencing discounts of up to 25%, following the elimination of the internal tax, often referred to as the “luxury tax.” While the legislative change removing the tax was approved in February, the price reductions are only beginning to materialize in April, according to industry sources.

Ford was among the first automakers to respond, announcing significant price cuts. The Mustang GT saw a 27% reduction, dropping from US$90,000 to US$65,000. The Mustang Dark Horse, slated for arrival in April due to existing stock limitations, experienced a nearly 22.7% decrease, moving from US$97,000 to US$75,000. Adjustments were as well made to the Bronco Badlands and F-150 models.

Contributing to the price adjustments is a government decision to allow the import of 10,000 vehicles from the United States without the 35% extra-zone tariff. This measure directly impacts the pricing of several imported models.

The Stellantis group, encompassing Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, RAM, and DS, also implemented price reductions, even on models not subject to the internal tax, as part of its commercial strategy. The Fiat Titano Endurance MT 4×2 saw a substantial decrease, falling from $50.230.000 to $39.900.000 – a 20% reduction. The DS 7 hybrid version now costs US$72,000, down from US$90,000, representing a 20% decrease.

Mercedes-Benz, through Prestige Auto, applied rebates to approximately 20 models, including both conventional and AMG versions. The GLE 450 4MATIC experienced one of the largest adjustments, with a nearly 20% reduction, set to take effect in April with a price of US$164,900.

BMW Group Argentina also released its new price list for April, with 28 models benefiting from reductions. The BMW X4 xDrive30i saw a 19% decrease, falling from US$106,900 to US$86,100. Within the BMW group, only the MINI Aceman SE, subject to the internal tax, experienced a price reduction of 10%, moving from US$69,990 to US$62,990.

Porsche also implemented price cuts across its entire range, with the 911 Turbo S experiencing an 18.8% reduction, from US$682,400 to US$554,000. Audi reduced the prices of 16 models, with cuts of up to 17.1%. The Q6 50 e-tron Performance saw the largest reduction, falling from US$154,600 to US$128,200, a 17.1% decrease.

Toyota and Lexus also adjusted prices on models affected by the tax removal. The Toyota Crown saw a 13% reduction, equating to a US$12,500 decrease, bringing its price to US$80,500. Lexus models experienced similar reductions, with some models seeing price drops of up to US$38,000, such as the LS 500h Executive.

Volkswagen updated its pricing twice in March, applying discounts to two models. The Volkswagen Tiguan saw a nearly 9% reduction, with the Life 250TSI DSG version now costing $77.574.100 and the R-Line 250TSI DSG version priced at $81.647.800. The Volkswagen Vento GLI experienced a 7% reduction, now priced at $72.746.050.

Hyundai has maintained stable prices for the past five months, while offering occasional bonuses on select models. For example, the Hyundai Tucson saw a US$2,000 reduction on its non-hybrid versions, with the 4×2 version now priced at US$46,000 and the 4×4 (HTRAC) version at US$56,000, representing an approximate 4% decrease. Hyundai is also offering a pair of tickets to a group stage match of the Argentine national team for the 2026 World Cup with the purchase of a Tucson, a promotion valid until May 15, 2026, or until 60 pairs of tickets are exhausted.
