Histamine buildup in fish, notably in improperly stored or processed products, can trigger a range of symptoms mimicking an allergic reaction. These include headache, skin redness, hives, gastrointestinal distress such as diarrhea, cramps, and nausea, and nasal congestion. In more severe cases, individuals may experiance heart irregularities, low blood pressure, anxiety, and breathing difficulties, though the severity varies depending on individual sensitivity and the level of histamine present.
