Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander left Wednesday’s pre-season game against the Calgary flames at Abbotsford Center with a lower-body injury and will be evaluated, head coach Adam Foote announced following the 3-1 victory. Hoglander was wearing a walking boot after the game.The 24-year-old was injured during the game and did not return for the third period. Through two periods, Hoglander had scored one goal, a power-play tally, in his second pre-season appearance, having previously played in Sunday’s exhibition opener against the Seattle Kraken.
Hoglander is entering his sixth NHL season and is looking to improve upon a 2024-25 campaign where he recorded eight goals and 25 points in 72 games. His most productive NHL season came in 2023-24, when he posted 24 goals and 12 assists in 80 games. The Canucks selected the Bockträsk, Sweden native 40th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Vancouver secured the win with goals from Victor Mancini and Filip Chytil, while Thatcher Demko made 11 saves. For Calgary, Connor Zary scored the lone goal, and Ivan Prosvetov stopped 28 shots.
Both teams have four pre-season games remaining. The Canucks will host the Seattle Kraken on Friday, while the Flames will visit the Winnipeg jets on Saturday.
