Cancun Outreach: 22 Baptized as Faith Spreads in Mexico | CBN News
Twenty-two individuals were baptized in the ocean in Cancun, Mexico, as part of a recent outreach effort that saw dozens of Christians share their faith with both tourists and local residents.
The outreach, dubbed “Reach Cancun,” involved 48 participants from Latin America, the United States, and Europe, according to Scott Langemeir, an outreach leader. The team focused on sharing the Gospel with people encountered in their daily lives, including hotel staff and guests.
Langemeir recounted one particularly impactful interaction with a man struggling with the recent loss of his mother to alcoholism. “He shared with me how his mother had recently died because of alcoholism… And in the middle of our conversation, he took his beer, he dumped it all out on the beach and said he wants to give his life to Jesus,” Langemeir told CBN News.
Beyond the public baptisms, the outreach resulted in numerous individuals making decisions to follow Christianity. Langemeir emphasized the openness he observed in those they encountered. “I like to spot the people through Jesus’s eyes that… they’re waiting for that next conversation. They’re waiting for someone to share the good news because it is the good news,” he said.
The event appears to be part of a broader trend of religious expression in the region, with reports of similar baptisms signaling a potential revival, according to CBN News.
