Ten people are dead, including the suspected shooter, following a shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, Canada, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Authorities confirmed the fatalities after a day-long response that involved a search of the school and surrounding properties.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) began receiving reports of the shooting at approximately 1:20 p.m. Local time (8:20 p.m. GMT), according to a police statement. Officers immediately entered the school to locate the threat and discovered multiple victims, including an individual believed to be the shooter, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted wound.
In addition to the shooter, seven people were found dead inside the school. One further victim died while being transported to a hospital. Two additional fatalities were discovered at a residence believed to be connected to the attack, bringing the total death toll to ten. More than 25 people were injured in the shooting, with two airlifted to hospitals with life-threatening injuries, and another 25 treated at a local medical center for non-life-threatening wounds.
“As part of the initial response to the active shooting, police entered the school to locate the threat. During the search, officers located several victims. Similarly found deceased was an individual believed to be the shooter, with what appears to be a self-inflicted injury,” the RCMP stated.
All students and staff remaining in the school were safely evacuated, authorities said. Police are continuing to search homes and properties in the area, located more than 600 miles north of Vancouver near the Alberta border, to ensure there are no further victims and to confirm there are no additional suspects.
