Cameron Boozer Records Historic Triple-Double as Grizzlies Move to 5-0
At 19 years and 103 days old, Memphis Grizzlies rookie Cameron Boozer became the second-youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double on Thursday night, finishing with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists in a 124-103 road win against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Historic Milestone in Just Five Games
The third pick in the 2026 NBA Draft reached the milestone during his fifth career game. The only other players in league history to record a triple-double in five or fewer games are Oscar Robertson in 1960, Art Williams in 1967, and Ben Simmons in 2017. Boozer stands as the youngest player to register a triple-double in a victory, pushing Memphis to a 5-0 start—their second 5-0 start in franchise history (2014-15).
The previous record for the youngest frontcourt player to record a triple-double belonged to San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, who achieved the feat at 20 years and 6 days old on January 10, 2024. The only player overall to secure a triple-double at a younger age than Boozer is Josh Giddey, who was 19 years and 84 days old on January 2, 2022.

Early Season Production Echoes Past Greats
Boozer’s opening stretch of professional games places him alongside legendary company. Through his first three contests, Boozer posted a total of 48 points and 35 rebounds, marking the first time a rookie reached those thresholds in their first three career games since Shaquille O’Neal did so during the 1992-93 season. Boozer’s early averages of 16 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game mirror production not seen since Elgin Baylor in 1958.
The Grizzlies have leaned heavily into their youth movement after overhauling the roster. Thursday’s matchup brought Ja Morant face-to-face with his old franchise following an offseason trade to Portland. Morant contributed 14 points and 3 assists before exiting the game in the fourth quarter due to a left hamstring injury.

Portland Struggles as Memphis Pulls Away
The Trail Blazers and Grizzlies played evenly through a 58-58 halftime tie before Memphis dominated the final two quarters by a 66-45 margin. Portland shot just 40.7 percent from the field and converted 12 of 49 attempts from beyond the arc. Deni Avdija led the Trail Blazers with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies received strong bench contributions, outscoring Portland’s reserves 56-32. Isaiah Stewart added 18 points off the bench, and Cedric Coward chipped in 17 points.

Upcoming Schedule
Thursday’s contest featured two of the last three undefeated teams in the NBA, leaving the Houston Rockets as the league’s only other remaining unbeaten side. Boozer and the Grizzlies return to action on Saturday night to host the Sacramento Kings.
