Calee Berry’s Pursuit of Back-too-Back Titles
Coronado’s Calee Berry has never been afraid of a good challenge. That’s a good thing considering the junior bowler appears headed for a competitive postseason.
Facing Adversity
The Cougars are the defending Class 5A state team champions, and Berry is defending last year’s individual title. However, neither is exactly where they expected to be at the beginning of the season. Berry has battled an injury that nearly sidelined her for the season, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I want to defend those crowns,” she said. “But I do not want it to be easy. One thing I really love is competition. That’s when I really pull out my inner beast.”
Individual Ranking and Past Success
With a 178.5 average, Berry is currently ranked fourth individually. This is familiar territory for the talented bowler, as she entered last year’s individual tournament also ranked fourth and ultimately won the championship.
Coach’s confidence
Coronado coach nicholas Elefantis shares Berry’s confidence. He believes in her ability to perform under pressure and is optimistic about her chances of repeating as individual champion.
Looking Ahead
Calee Berry’s journey this season has been marked by resilience and a love for competition. As the postseason approaches, she is prepared to embrace the challenge and defend her titles. Her determination and competitive spirit make her a force to be reckoned with, and she is poised for a strong finish.
