Surratt’s Breakthrough: Legion XIII Star Claims Career-Best Finish
Caleb Surratt has emerged as a pivotal force for Legion XIII, achieving his highest-ever LIV Golf finish with a remarkable third-place performance at the recent JCB event. This breakthrough follows a string of strong showings, including a crucial role in Legion XIII’s triumph at Valderrama, where his five birdies on the back nine propelled the team too victory.
Surratt’s decision to join LIV Golf without prior professional tour experience was met with skepticism by some. Though, his recent success demonstrates that competing alongside and learning from LIV Golf’s elite players has significantly accelerated his development.
“I feel like great finishes have been overdue for me,” Surratt commented after his extraordinary display at JCB. “There were so many moments today where I wouldn’t have been prepared to do what I did if I hadn’t had all those learning experiences. the caliber of players here is incredibly high, and finishing at the top of the leaderboard is a genuine challenge. Today was a day I wouldn’t have been ready for if I hadn’t been out here for the past year and a half.”
Team captain Jon Rahm lauded Surratt’s potential, stating, “It’s been a really good week, obviously led by Caleb. Getting his first top 10 and finishing third is a big deal,a big week. Hoping this can be the boost he needed to get to a level that we all know he can get to. Not that he isn’t already there. Just a matter of proving it to himself. He’s definitely good enough.”
tyrrell Hatton, Rahm’s Legion XIII teammate, echoed these sentiments. “It’s nice that Caleb has been playing better this season, and obviously the result this week is great for him to grow in confidence and prove to himself that he’s good enough; he just needs to trust himself more,” Hatton remarked.
For emerging talents, self-belief is often the key differentiator. Surratt’s third-place finish has provided a substantial boost to his confidence. “To be able to piece it together, trust myself, and finish a great tournament is definitely a confidence builder and proves a lot to me beating a lot of these players,” said Surratt, whose previous best results on LIV Golf were two 11th-place finishes earlier in the season.
Surratt’s rapid ascent within LIV Golf highlights the league’s dedication to fostering young talent alongside its established stars. Under the guidance of Rahm and Hatton, and within the highly competitive environment of Legion XIII, Surratt is positioning himself as a foundational player for the league’s future.
